A very special recording for me, because it shows the friendship that has developed between Wong Shun Leung and Volker Boekhoff since 1984. The photo was taken in 1992.

In 1975, Volker Boekhoff began combat training at the age of 15. First he learned from Masutatzu Oyama, the 3rd generation grandmaster of Japanese Kyokushin Karate. Training in Chinese VingTsun Kung Fu began in 1980. In 1984 he passed his teaching examination and continued to work and learn as an assistant trainer at home and abroad for 13 years. In 1986, the then legendary grandmaster Wong Shun Leung appointed him 'Junior Instructor' of the 'Wong Shun Leung Martial Art Association, Hong Kong' and gave him his name: 'GentlemanFighter' Volker Boekhoff founded his own with the consent of Sifu WONG SHUN LEUNG in 1992 Association, the 'VB-VING TSUN KUNG FU MARTIAL ART SOCIETY', and has trained over 3000 students to date. Many trainers and teachers emerged from this small school in Leer / East Frisia. The connection to Wong Shun Leung, which lasted until 1997, continues to shape his coaching work for over 40 years and his striving for perfection. In 1999/2000 Boekhoff reconnected with Leung Chi Singh (Big Leung), who also expanded his knowledge. In 2015, Volker Boekhoff began to adapt and restructure Ving Tsun to his findings in order to facilitate the training of new generations and to convey the style in a truly logical way. He sees Ving Tsun as self-explanatory and constructive, with the forms being seen as the key to knowledge. His explanations and statements are fundamentally different from all other definitions of his "First Generation Brothers" in the world. “Sifu Wong Shun Leung has made decisive discoveries”. "Ving Tsun has at least the logic potential of chess or an independent language."
